Extracurriculars

LFES students have the opportunity to participate in rec league athletics offered through the Locust Fork community. Local churches offer upward soccer, flag football, cheerleading, basketball and softball.

LFES offers Beginner Band for 6th grade students. Beginner band students work with the band director in the high school everyday.

Our Math team consists of students from 5th and 6th grade. Students are chosen based on AIMSWEB and ACAP data.  Our 6th grade won 1st place overall in the Hayden Middle School Math Tournament for 2023 with five of the 6th graders placing in the top 10. Our 5th grade scored 1st in Ciphering for 2023 and had one 5th grade student place in the top 10.

Teachers work hard to incorporate field trips that support and enhance their curriculum.

Students in sixth grade can apply through an application process which requires outside recommendations and students should exhibit excellent conduct. Throughout the school year, Ambassadors participate in service projects to support the community, provide leadership for special events in the school, and participate in fundraisers to cover costs of special events and programs.

Students in fourth through sixth grade can apply through an application process. Students should exhibit excellent conduct and be in good academic standing.

All second grade students are screened for the gifted program. Students in grades Third through Sixth, who qualify, come to a pull-out program for three hours a week. They work on problem-solving, higher-order skills, advanced technology, and social and emotional issues that are unique to gifted students.

Students in grades Fourth through Sixth go through a selection process to be chosen for the Morning News crew.
