During PALS (Partnering at Locust Fork Schools), teachers stay with their homeroom. Teachers spend time with each student helping him/her establish academic and personal goals and creating an action plan for reaching those goals. The homeroom teachers serve as adult advocates by helping students review their strengths and weaknesses and by leading them to set goals to better themselves academically in the areas of reading and math. Teachers help their students think outside the box by leading them to establish his/her own personal goals.
By serving as the advocate on PALS Day, teachers lead their students into accepting ownership for their own learning and sometimes even career path. By reviewing and analyzing data with students, teachers lead them to understand where they are in the learning process and areas in which they need to improve. Students maintain a data binder to track progress and goal mastery. Their cumulative data binder follows them kindergarten through sixth grade at LFES.
CLUB DAY - We also serve as adult advocates for a group of students who share similar interests by choosing to participate in a club of their choice. This is a time to celebrate differences and make connections with other people who share common interests. These clubs are composed of students with mixed abilities and different ages/genders. Our clubs also lead students into accepting people for who they are no matter what race, age, gender, or academic/athletic ability.
We lead students into taking PRIDE in their work as we guide them to know and understand their data.
