Message from the Principal
Welcome to Locust Fork Elementary School! My name is Amy Williamson. I have served in public education as a teacher, reading coach, and currently as an instructional leader for over twenty-two years and have had the privilege of serving as the principal of LFES for the past thirteen years. I obtained my bachelor and master’s degrees at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, received my Instructional Leader certification from Samford University, and achieved my Educational Specialist Degree from the University of West Alabama. In 2010, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Reading Literacy: Language Arts and recertified in 2020. I have been married to Scott Williamson, a Battalion Chief with the City of Hoover Fire Department, for over twenty years. Together we have two amazing children, Coleman and Cortlyn. We also have three dogs that are a part of our family. The Locust Fork community has been a great place to serve and raise our children. I truly believe it truly takes a village to look after each other and help others achieve their goals.
As an instructional leader, I consider myself a continuous learner always searching for better ways to reach our students and prepare our teachers for success. At Locust Fork Elementary School, we belong to a team of professionals who are always searching for ways to improve teaching and learning. We want our students to know and believe they can do and be anything they want to be in life. I also believe educators are placed in students’ lives to prepare them for a successful future in the workforce or higher education and to also serve as their advocates. I believe students need to experience problem solving, collaboration, and perseverance and develop a strong work ethic. When students leave Locust Fork Elementary School, we want them to know that being a good human being with moral character is just as important as being an academic scholar.
