Principal's Message

Locust Fork Elementary is a K-6 Title One elementary school located in the Blount County School district with approximately 500 students, 36 certified faculty members, and 10 staff members. LFES also has 9 wonderful bus drivers and 6 terrific lunchroom ladies that work together to make our students feel special by supporting our district's mission of Build, Create, Succeed. Locust Fork Elementary School has an outstanding team of educators who work to serve our community and make students feel safe and loved while preparing them for success throughout each grade level.  LFES is considered a Title One School since we have over 40% of students who receive free/reduced lunches. This year we have about 65% of students who receive free/reduced. Title One Schools receive Federal funding and are required to implement a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP). Our CIP Team consists of administrators, teachers, and parents who work together to establish goals as well as strategies and action steps to reach those goals. Be sure to check out our CIP One Pager for a quick reference and overview!

Many improvements have been completed during the summer to make LFES more energy efficient. Some of these improvements include LED lighting in every classroom, new insulation, new heating and cooling, hallway enhancements, waxing of the floors, and painting. Parents are always welcome and are encouraged to volunteer. LFES could definitely use more Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) members! PTSO meets once a month and works to raise money for our school. PTSO has been able to fund furniture and technology for classrooms, instructional materials for teachers, resources for students and more. I want to encourage all parents and guardians to get involved and be a part of our school community. We hope to see many of you this year volunteering and supporting our students.

Several grade levels have planned exciting field trips for the year! Parents and guardians are welcome to attend these great learning experiences with their child. Please ask your child's teacher for more information.

Locust Fork Elementary has been using Remind to keep parents and guardians informed about school activities and important information. Remind is a free service that allows the school to send quick messages or attachments via text, push notifications, or email to everyone at Locust Fork Elementary. LFES will be able to communicate with our school community without revealing your personal contact information. Signing up for our messages on Remind is easy. Text our school code @locustf to 81010 or (205) 614-5045. You can also sign up to receive lunchroom information such as menus and important events by texting to @lf8lunch to 81010.

Be sure to visit and like our Locust Fork Elementary School Facebook page. Our Facebook page posts daily pictures of students who are Caught Being a Real Hornet, participating in Character Education and morning announcements as well as exciting classroom activities.
